My Current Accessory Obsession

Lately there has been a particular accessory that has been catching my eye..

.accessory obsession

I’m in love with spoon rings right now! I’ve been obsessing over these lately as my latest fashion statement. I’m not sure if they are just popular where I live or if it’s everywhere. I think the are so classic and I love the chunky look of multiple spoon rings on one hand. One on each finger if you can handle it! My obsession began a while ago when I saw that my grandma was wearing these very cool chunky rings. Since then, I have seen them on multiple people and definitely on Pinterest.

There are lots of DIY spoon rings on Pinterest, but personally I like to buy mine at antique stores. I love how vintage they feel and they’re really easy to come by. Often times, they are really affordable and come in so many different sizes. This is important to me because my ring finger size is 3.5! Because they are literally made from spoons, the antique ones are usually real silver and can be shined to sparkle. A little elbow grease is all you need to make one of these beautiful rings to shine like new.

In case you were wondering what spoon rings are, here’s a little collage of spoon rings!

I also thought I would share my most recent finds at my local antique store:

The one on my thumb is from a silver plated spoon and the one on my hand is a sterling silver spoon. I think they are sooo cute!

Let my know if you guys are in love with this look as well!

Pros and Cons of Wearing Glasses

I’ve been wearing glasses now for a couple of years and there are definitely some pros and cons of wearing them. Maybe you can relate to my love/hate relationship with my glasses.

glasses

Pros:

  • They cover up third eye zits. You know the ones that horrifyingly show up right between the eyes.
  • Looking like a hipster comes naturally. (This one depends on what type of glasses you wear, but who wouldn’t want to be a hipster once in a while?)
  • You look smarter – I know this is a stereotype, but sometimes I just feel smarter.
  • They’re an easy accessory. Sometimes I feel like when I wear my glasses, I don’t need to try as hard on jewelry.
  • No makeup? No problem.
  • Your eyebrows don’t have to always be on fleek. Having a bad eyebrow day? Have no fear, cover them up with glasses!
  • You can dramatically throw them off whenever you feel like it.

Cons:

  • Rain. Need I say more?
  • Red marks on the nose. No matter what type of glasses you wear, those little red marks feel permanent.
  • Fogginess. Wash the dishes? Fog. Drink coffee? Fog.
  • Smudges. My glasses seem to always have some sort of smudge on them.
  • Spent an hour on perfect winged eyeliner? Don’t worry. No one will notice behind your glasses.
  • Hats + glasses = a hot mess. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel overwhelmed when I’m wearing my glasses and I put on a hat.
  • Sports are a danger zone. I didn’t do a whole lot of sports, but glasses definitely get in the way.

If you were wondering, here is a lazy Sunday selfie of me and my glasses:

What I Learned Working at a Pizza Place

You all may not know, but for the past nine months, I have worked at a take-and-bake pizza place. The job doesn’t suck. I have enjoyed it most of the time. But, the time has come for me to move on to a different job and better opportunity at a different restaurant. Along the way, I have learned quite a bit, so I wanted to share with you the things I learned.

WORLD YOU LOVE

1. The customer is NOT always right, in fact, they’re almost always wrong. Those of you who have worked in food service or any type of customer service may know what I’m talking about. Those customers who walk in all high and mighty. Those are the worst kind. As an employee we may seem to respect you as a customer, but we don’t. Don’t be that person.

2. We will talk about you when you leave. As soon as the lobby is empty and the customers are gone, you better bet that we will talk about you. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but we know who you are and if you’ve offended at least one of us in the past.

3. Making pizza is pretty easy. I mean, think about it. Get the dough, spread the sauce, measure some cheese, and throw on some toppings.

4. I don’t really like to make pizza. I now know that pizza making is not in my future career. (No offense to any and all professional pizza makers.)

5. Working with a relatively small crew – about 13 people – means there is a lot of drama. My crew was all girls and one guy and let me tell you, DRAMA. This is one of the worst parts about the job. If you don’t get along with someone, everyone will know and they will either agree with you or shame you.

6. I still like pizza. I genuinely do. I almost gained a little more respect for different types of pizzas.

7. Some customers will do anything for that $1.00 coupon. Not that being frugal isn’t fantastic, but I don’t know how much longer I could take being harassed about someone not qualifying for a coupon. It really won’t make that much of a difference. Or maybe it will and I just don’t understand. Whichever way, I don’t like being harassed.

8. Customers that are high are the funniest. I’m talking about being high on marijuana. They order anything they see and then they tip us their pot leaf covered money. We think it’s hilarious. Just as a disclaimer, I don’t smoke marijuana, nor have I ever, and I live in a state where marijuana use is legal.

9. We will never, ever spit on your food. Unless you walk in at 8:57 PM (we close at 9) and order three pizzas. Then maybe, just maybe, we will be extremely angry.

 10. Music makes everything better. We always have the radio playing and it really makes the time pass by faster. And we all love to sing along and dance when no one is watching.

11. Don’t piss off your supervisor or you will be stuck on dishes for days on end. This always seemed to happen to me. Sometimes I say things before I have the chance to think about it.

12. I’m going to miss working at my pizza place. I really will.

If you have ever worked at a pizza place and I missed something, let me know!

What’s in my Makeup Bag

Here’s a little peek into the makeup I use daily. Just the important stuff.

makeupbag

1. Tarte BB Tinted Treatment in the shade “light” – I basically use this BB cream as my foundation. I’m not a huge full coverage foundation fan and I feel like this BB cream gives me a great coverage without feeling like a foundation. I absolutely love that it’s SPF 30 and it lasts 12 hours. For real.

2. bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil – I use this to set my BB cream and I really love the subtle shimmer and dewiness that it gives me.

3. bareMinerals Correcting Concealer in the shade “light 1” – I’ve been fairly pleased with this concealer in terms of covering small breakouts and redness. I don’t use it daily, but it deserves a spot in my bag.

4. Smashbox Brow Tech Trio in the shade “blonde” – As someone who has super light eyebrows (like basically white) this trio is a necessity. I prefer to use this over any eyebrow pencil to make my brows look more natural. I use both shades, but I rarely us the wax portion of the trio.

5. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion – If I decide to wear eyeshadow, I always, always, always use this primer. It’s a simple nude color and evens out my eyelid. Definite must have.

6. Urban Decay Naked 2 palette – I use this palette whenever I decide to wear eyeshadow, which is really only half the time. I typically just do a lid color and a crease color. Super simple.

7. L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara – I’m not super picky when it comes to mascara and this is just what I have right now. I like that the wand is simple, it doesn’t bend or do anything weird and it isn’t curved. I’ll probably switch it up again soon.

8. Tweezers – Not really sure what brand they are, but they’re just simple, angled tweezers.

That’s really it for my makeup bag! Not including my actual makeup collection (:

10 Things I Believe

1. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and he is my savior. I know, typical number one belief, but hey, we all have to start somewhere!

2. I believe that we can love somebody and completely disagree with their lifestyle. For example, I love my gay friend to death, but I disagree with the way he lives his life. And this is okay! Trust me!

3. I believe in respect where respect is due. I’m first to admit that I don’t always respect people when I should, but respecting others is so important in a world full of hate.

monk-555391_1280

4. I believe in getting an education. School may be boring and tiresome, but the power of an education shouldn’t be underestimated.

education-548105_1280

5. I believe in marriage. I know, I’m not married nor have I ever been, but I believe in the power of marriage. It’s admirable. Marriage is a gift from God and it should be treated that way.

6. I believe in love. Could I get any more cliche? I really do though. I believe in the love that God has for His people. I believe in the love that a mother has for her child. I believe in the love a dog has for his owner.

heart-700141_1280

7. I believe in forgiveness. I am always one to fall short of forgiving others, but when I do find the strength to forgive, I am so much better in the long run.

8. I believe in children. I believe that they are the light of the world and that they can teach us far more than we can teach them.

9. I believe in the power of a smile. Really. One smile can go a long way. I challenge you to smile at everyone you see for an entire day. Notice the difference.

10. I believe in chocolate cake. That’s all.

These beliefs are my beliefs and I encourage you to share your own. I do not expect anyone to completely agree with what I believe and that is fine and dandy in my book.
